Art Excursion to the Brisbane Gallery Of Modern Art- GOMA

Today, 22nd of February (Monday), we went to the Brisbane Gallery of Modern Art.

This gallery featured collections from Australian and international paintings, sculptures, decorative art objects and works on paper. As soon as we walked into the centre, it looked pretty amazing. The ceiling was covered with paper, which was clipped with the bull-dog clippers all the way across the ceiling. I thought that was pretty cool. (;

This was a sculpture of a taxidermied elk embedded withglass bubbles, by Kohei Nawa. I think this sculpture was very interesting and really shined out for me. (: The glass bubbles look really great, you can just see the elk under it. It looks as though the elk is trapped inside a fantasy world or something, becasue the glass bubbles make the texture and surface of the sculpture look like a fantasy.

Another great sculpture by, Subodh Gupta who created a large, nuclear explosion, which looks like a massive mushroom cloud and was made from household objects. I think this explosion is very unique and i really looove it. <3

This next one, was one of my favourite. <3> They are mutant guitar sculptures created by Rudi Mantofani. I think that this is a really creative thing to do with everyday guitars. I would've never thought of doing such a thing to guitars, but the overall results was really inspirational and juist amazing. (: The colours of the guitars make it eye popping, and that's another reason it really stodd out for me. The different colours just make it look fun and exciting.
One of the activities that you could take part in the Art Gallery was to go into a room and take off our shoes. The room was an amazing installation made by Shinji Ohmaki. The room consisted of 120, 000 of knotted thread that people can walk through. Shinji said that if you tie them all together, there will be 400km of thread. eg- from Tokyo to Osaka. This room was heaps of fun. Raier, Anna, Hartley and i all went in at once. As you get deeper into the room, you can't see anything but white threads hitting you in your face. :D Haha. I started getting really clostrophobic and i was attempting to get out, but instead rammed into a window. (really embarrassing). Hehe. This is a photo.

The overall day was a once in a lifetime event. The amazing artists are very talented to have produced such amazing works and i really admire them for creating such unique and diffreent works that are loved by all. (:
